THRESHOLDS of THE LAND - Transportation Hub

The Threshold of the Land envisions the Kuching Transportation Hub as a living infrastructural landscape, where transit, territory, and tradition coexist in harmony.

Guided by the concept of Euterria, a deep unity between people and the earth, the design draws from Sarawak’s cultural identity, where nature is not merely a backdrop, but the heart of community and belonging. Responding to the stress and fatigue of overcrowded, uncomfortable transit spaces, the hub integrates nature to create a serene, restorative environment that nurtures mental well-being and focus.

Blurring the boundary between arrival and departure, built and natural, movement and stillness, the hub offers more than passage, it offers presence. The design preserves and amplifies local identity while reimagining urban transit spaces as places for relaxation, cultural connection, and emotional renewal.
